چکیده
Abstract We study dynamical friction in the Newtonian regime of nonlocal gravity (NLG), which is a classical generalization Einstein’s theory gravitation. The aspect NLG simulates dark matter. attributes resulting effective matter are described and main physical predictions NLG, has characteristic length scale order 1 kpc, for galactic dynamics presented. Within framework we derive analog Chandrasekhar’s formula friction. astrophysical implications results apparent rotation central bar subject to barred spiral galaxy briefly discussed.

Effective Nonlocal Euclidean Gravity
A nonlocal form of the effective gravitational action could cure the unboundedness of euclidean gravity with Einstein action. On sub-horizon length scales the modified gravitational field equations seem compatible with all present tests of general relativity and post-Newtonian gravity. They induce a difference in the effective Newton’s constant between regions of space with vanishing or nonvani...
متن کاملDynamical friction in dwarf galaxies
We present a simplified analytic approach to the problem of the spiraling of a massive body orbiting within the dark halo of a dwarf galaxy. This dark halo is treated as the core region of a King distribution of dark matter particles, in consistency with the observational result of dwarf galaxies having solid body rotation curves. Thus we derive a simple formula which provides a reliable and ge...
متن کاملPressure control system with nonlocal friction
We analyze the motion of a pressure control system described by a differential equation with nonlocal dissipative force. This system is composed by an oscillator, a membrane and a constant force. We consider the dissipative memory kernel consisting of two terms. One of them is described by the Dirac delta function which represents a local friction, whereas for the second one we consider two typ...
متن کاملVirial Theorem in Nonlocal Newtonian Gravity
Nonlocal gravity is the recent classical nonlocal generalization of Einstein’s theory of gravitation in which the past history of the gravitational field is taken into account. In this theory, nonlocality appears to simulate dark matter. The virial theorem for the Newtonian regime of nonlocal gravity theory is derived and its consequences for “isolated" astronomical systems in virial equilibriu...
